Beginning of international coproduction of a play

East West Center Sarajevo announces the beginning of an international co-production of a play within the Project “Enabled Theatre” together with regional partners: JU “Grad Teatar” Budva, Serbian National Theatre Novi Sad and Dance Centre “Tala” Zagreb, as part of the EU Programme “Creative Europe.”

“Enabled Theatre” will involve artists, experts and people with disabilities and their families through a two-way exchange. Today also marked the launch of online platform enabledtheatre.com. The project objective is to bring the world of people with developmental disabilities closer to the audience through artistic expression and make them more visible and represented in today’s time.

“The goal of our play is to raise social awareness on the importance and protection of people with disabilities and their families. A society is only as strong as the most vulnerable among us are strong and protected. A much greater understanding of people with disabilities and their families is needed. Professional actors will perform in the play, and almost a whole year before the premiere, we will hold workshops in Budva, Sarajevo and Novi Sad with people with disabilities, their families and experts. “Enabled Theatre” is not a social project, it is an artistic performance, theatre. It is important to talk about this subject in theatre. After the premiere, the play will have a regional tour,” says Haris Pašović, play director and director of East West Centre Sarajevo.
