Helen Keller

Did you know that Helen Keller, a famous American writer and activist, was blind and deaf since childhood? She is the author of twelve books, including The Story of My Life, Optimism, The World I Live In, Out of the Dark, My Religion, and Helen Keller’s Diary. In addition to her literary work, Keller was active in the American Foundation for the Blind, where she worked to raise public awareness of the problems of the blind and deaf and to improve government care for the blind. Keller received numerous awards for her work and became one of the most significant icons of American popular culture and a symbol of people with disabilities who manage to overcome their handicap.
